When I talk about the word corrupted for some of the defentions for the error messages below you need to understand that corruption can happen for a lot of reasons such as:

You computer might have a virus.

You could have a buggy program installed.

You could have a buggy software drive installed.

Some of the memory in your computer might be bad.

The motherboard in your computer might be bad.

The power supply in your computer might be bad.

Electrical Surges from your electrical outlets can cause corruption so if you don't have a good surge protector I suggest getting one. You can usually pick up a good surge protector for about $20.00 us.

The reason that I mention this is because if you send your hard drive to a data recovery service to get your data recovered you may think that when you have your recovered data back that your problems are over. However if your drive had corruption and that corruption was caused by a bad part in your computer such as some bad memory in your computer, a bad motherboard or a bad power supply in your computer then when you get your system up and working again you may find that your data gets corrupted again if your computer still has the bad part in it that caused the corruption in the first place. Note: Just because your drive may have beed corrupted does not always mean that there is a bad part in your computer. I just mention this so that you can be aware of it.

Data can also become corrupted because you are overclocking your computer. We have seen computers that are
overclocked not give any symptoms of being overclocked other than sometimes when you try to print a document the
document does not print with the correct information on it. I have seen one computer do this and on this computer
benchmark, burnin and diagnostic programs were used to test to make sure that the computer was not having
any problems from overclocking. There were no problems reported by the benchmark, burnin and diagnostic
programs but sometimes when we tried to print a document the document did not print the correct information
all the time.

We have also seen data corruption happen because of a bad motherboard. We have recovered information from a hard
that was connected to a bad motherboard. The hard drive connected to the bad motherboard had a corrupted partition table and a corrupted boot sector. When we tried to recover the hard drive we noticed that when we looked at the files

in some of the directories that all of the files in the directory that we looked in had a duplicate file for each file in that directory with the same name as the original file. The operating system that we were recovering does not allow you to have duplicate files in the same directory with the same file name as the original file. At this point we did not know which file name was the real one and which one was the corrupted one in the directory so we decided that since the partition table and boot sector were the only other problems on the hard drive that we would repair the partition table and boot sector and check to see if we could use Windows XP to copy the non-corrupted files from the hard drive once the partition table and boot sector were repaired. The idea that we had was that Windows XP might only show us the valid file names in each directory instead of showing us both the valid file name with the correct data and the file name with the corrupted data in each directory. This is just what happened. Windows XP only showed us only the valid file names with the non-corrupted data and we were able to recover all the information on the drive. If Windows XP had not just shown us the valid file names with the non-corrupted data then we would not have known which file name had the corrupted data and which file name had the correct non-corrupted data. Every data recovery program we used to try and recover the hard drive showed us both file names with the same name in the same directory and we did not know which one had the correct data so we could not be sure which one to recover using the data recovery programs.

If you are repairing a computer and decide to use a post card to diagnose any problems the computer might be having, then make sure that you use a post card that can only plug in one way. There are some post cards that can be plugged in backwards. Some of the post cards that can be plugged in backards can cause your computer to catch fire when plugged in backards. Just because a post card can be plugged in backards does not mean it will harm your computer when it is plugged in backards but just to be safe make sure you buy a post card that can only be plugged in the slot one way. On post cards that can be plugged in backards it can be easy to plug in the post card backards if you have not used it in a long time or you get in a hurry. Some post cards are burnout-proof when you plug them in backards. We are not sure if these burnout-proof post cards can harm your computer when plugged in backards. Ask the company that you are buying the post card from.

Note: Sometimes people think that they have a virus and the problem is that they have a buggy program or buggy software drive installed into their computer.

Note: Also if you notice your computer running slower than it did before then this could be a sign that your hard drive is starting to fail. Sometimes when the hard drive starts to fail and develope bad sectors this slows the performance of the hard drive down. If you notice that your hard drive is getting slower then run a diagnostic program that checks every sector on the hard drive to see if any of the sectors on the hard drive have gone bad. While running the hard drive diagnostic program on your hard drive to see if any of the sectors on your hard drive have gone bad you may notice that if you run the hard drive diagnostic program more than once you may see more bad sectors each time you run the hard drive diagnostic program. This means that your drive is starting to fail quickly. Sometimes you may not see more bad sectors develope each time you run the hard drive diagnostic program to check your hard drive for bad sectors. The computer running slower than it did before does not always mean that your hard drive is failing. This could also mean that you need to defrag your hard drive or you may have to many programs starting up with your computer and slowing it down. Sometimes defragging your hard drive can speed up your computer. If you have to many programs starting up with your computer you will need to disable some programs to speed up your computer. Slow downs can also be cause by a buggy program installed.
